『Happy Mother's Day』

Mother’s Day is a celebrationhonoring the mother of the family, as wellas motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It iscelebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in themonths of March or May. It complementssimilar celebrations honoring family members, such as Father'sDay and Siblings Day.

母の日の起源はアメリカ！？

＊母の日の始まりは、１９１６年、アメリカの南北戦争の頃といわれています。敵味方に関係なく、負傷兵たちの環境を衛生的に改善させようと、立ち上がった女性（アン・ジャービス）がいました。この女性が亡くなったのが、5月9日。

彼女の娘は亡き母を偲び、祭壇にカーネーションを飾ったのです。亡き母へ寄せる思いがアメリカ全土に伝わると、感動と共感を呼び、お母さんにカーネーションを贈る習慣が広がりました。

母の日の起源には諸説ありますが、これが今日に伝わる母の日の始まりといわれています。

“mother ”という単語には「お母さん」という名詞の意味だけでなく、「生を与える」という動詞の意味もあります。つまり「すべての生に感謝する」のがこの記念日の本当の意味かもしれませんね❦
